THE PROCESS
The treatment involves hydrating micro injections of Hyaluronic Acid, a soft gel like substance called hyaluronic acid. Water loving Hyaluronic Acid is found naturally in the body where it maintains hydration levels in the skin. As we age the quality of Hyaluronic Acid diminishes over time. With Skin Boosters the skin’s firmness, elasticity, radiance and natural hydration is improved. The needle has to be inserted along the wrinkle and then gradually retracted, by releasing the product. After injection, if necessary, proceed with a light massage in order to model the treated zone. For the correction of thin wrinkles, the more recommended site of injection is typically reticular dermis.
CONSULTATION
The consultation process is important to each and every treatment, allowing you to express your concerns and what you hope to gain from your treatment plan. Don’t be afraid to open up to allow for a highly personalised treatment plan to form because only then can you hope to achieve the results you desire. An initial consultation is completed online upon scheduling an appointment, This provides information about the treatment as well as ensuring your suitability ensuring their are no contraindications to the procedure. A full face-to-face consultation is carried out on the day of the treatment.
PREPARATION
For optimal results, and to minimize the chance of bleeding or bruising at the injection site, please avoid all blood-thinning medications and supplements for one week prior to your appointment. This includes over-the-counter medication such as aspirin, Motrin, ibuprofen, and Aleve. Also avoid herbal supplements such as garlic, vitamin E, ginko biloba, St. John's Wort and omega-3 capsules.
If medically advised, please check with your doctor prior to stopping use of aspirin.
Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A) retinols, retinoids, glycolic acid, alpha hydroxy acid, or any "anti-aging" products for two days before and after treatment.
Do not drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours before or after your treatment to avoid extra bruising.
AFTERCARE
• Immediately after the treatment area may be red, tender or swollen. The redness and tenderness should improve after 48 hours. • Immediately after dermal filler injections the treatment area may be red, tender or swollen. The redness and tenderness should improve after 48 hours. Swelling is often worse on days 2-3 after injection, improved by day 5 and resolved by 2 weeks.
• Bruising is common following treatment; this will resolve naturally but may take up to 2 weeks to settle.
• Regular application of Arnica cream may be helpful for bruising.
• Tenderness is normal when the injected area is touched afterwards but active pain at rest is not normal.
• Avoid any makeup for 24 hours after treatment as this will reduce the risk of infection.
• Drink plenty of water after treatment to keep well hydrated.
• Avoid alcohol, caffeine, hot drinks and spicy food for 24 hours.
• Avoid medications such as aspirin or Ibuprofen for 24 hours as they are blood thinning agents and may worsen bruising (if these medications have been advised by your GP you must check with your GP before stopping them)
• Avoid supplements such as multivitamins, fish oils, glucosamine and Vitamin B or Vitamin E, which are blood thinning agents and may exacerbate bruising for 24 hours (if these supplements have been advised by your GP please check with your GP before stopping them)
• Avoid any excess sun exposure, extremes of hot/cold, saunas, swimming or strenuous exercise immediately following the treatment
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?
The treated area of skin may feel slightly tender and appear red and swollen afterwards. These effects will resolve naturally and should be much improved after 48 hours but may take longer to settle. You may experience some minor bruising which may take 1-2 weeks to resolve in some cases.
IS IT PAINFUL?
When administered by a trained professional you should experience minimal discomfort. Numbing cream will be applied prior to the treatment to further reduce discomfort. When the numbing agent wears off , around 1-2 hrs time, you can experience some mild discomfort so I would advise over the counter pain relief such as paracetamol if able
