About

EXCELIGHT® - The next generation in aesthetic skin treatments

The Lynton Excelight allows for precision-led treatments, meaning energy is delivered accurately to the target area while protecting surrounding skin. This results in treatments that are both effective and comfortable, with results that continue to improve over time.

Our focus is not quick fixes, but long-term skin health, supporting collagen stimulation, skin renewal and clarity for results that look refined and natural.

THE PROCESS

CONSULTATION

All Lynton Excelight treatments begin with a comprehensive consultation and skin assessment, during which your skin concerns, medical history and treatment goals are discussed. As part of this process, a patch test is required prior to treatment to ensure your skin responds safely to the light or laser energy. This is an essential safety step and is carried out in advance of your treatment session.

PREPARATION

Pre-treatment advice is discussed in detail during your consultation and sent to you in advance of your appointment to ensure you feel fully informed and prepared for treatment.

This guidance is tailored to your individual treatment and skin type and may include advice on skincare, sun exposure, medications and lifestyle considerations in the lead-up to your appointment. Following this advice helps to optimise treatment results and reduce the risk of side effects.

If you have any questions prior to your appointment, we are always happy to discuss these with you.

On the day of treatment, the skin is cleansed and prepared, and protective eyewear is provided. The Excelight handpiece is then carefully applied to the treatment area, delivering controlled pulses of light or laser energy to target the underlying concern while protecting the surrounding skin. The sensation is generally well tolerated and is often described as a brief warmth or light flicking feeling.

Treatment times vary depending on the area and concern being treated. After treatment, the skin may appear mildly flushed or warm, similar to light sun exposure, which typically settles quickly. Aftercare advice will be provided to support skin recovery and optimise results.

For best results, a course of treatments is usually recommended, with gradual improvements developing over time as the skin responds and regenerates. Each treatment plan is fully bespoke, ensuring safe, progressive and natural-looking outcomes.

AFTERCARE

Detailed aftercare guidance is discussed during your appointment and provided in writing before and after treatment. The information below offers a general guide to help you understand what to expect and how to care for your skin following treatment.

After treatment, the skin may feel warm, appear slightly flushed or mildly swollen. This is a normal response and usually settles within a short period. Some treatments may also cause temporary darkening of pigmentation or increased sensitivity as the skin begins its renewal process.

To support healing and optimise results, you will be advised to:
Avoid heat, strenuous exercise, hot baths and saunas for 24–48 hours
Avoid sun exposure and apply a high-factor broad-spectrum SPF daily
Avoid active skincare products such as retinoids and exfoliating acids for a short period, as advised
Keep the skin clean, well hydrated and protected
Avoid picking, scratching or irritating the treated area

Aftercare advice is always tailored to your individual treatment and skin type to ensure safe recovery and the best possible outcome. If you have any questions or concerns following treatment, advice and support are always available.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?

Lynton Excelight treatments are generally well tolerated, and most side effects are mild and temporary. Common, expected reactions may include:

Redness or flushing of the skin
Mild swelling or warmth in the treated area
Temporary sensitivity or tingling
These effects usually settle within a few hours to a couple of days.

When treating pigmentation, the area may darken initially before naturally lifting and fading. Vascular treatments may result in temporary redness or slight bruising, which typically resolves quickly.

More significant side effects are uncommon, particularly when treatments are carried out following a thorough consultation, patch test and correct aftercare. Full risks and side effects will be discussed with you during your consultation, and written information will be provided before and after treatment.

If you have any concerns following treatment, advice and support are always available.

IS IT PAINFUL?

Lynton Excelight treatments are generally well tolerated, and most clients describe the sensation as mild and brief. You may feel a warm or light flicking sensation as the energy is delivered, but discomfort is usually minimal and short-lived.

Treatment settings are carefully selected based on your skin type and concern to ensure comfort and safety. Any temporary sensation typically settles quickly once the treatment is complete.

AM I SUITABLE?

Lynton Excelight treatments are suitable for many individuals looking to improve concerns such as acne, pigmentation, redness, breakouts, post-acne marks and overall skin clarity. Suitability depends on several factors, including your skin type, medical history, current medications and the specific concern being treated.

A full consultation and skin assessment is always carried out before treatment, and a patch test is required in advance to ensure the treatment is safe and appropriate for your skin. This allows us to tailor the treatment settings to you and achieve the best possible results.

If the treatment is not suitable, alternative treatment options will be discussed to ensure you receive the most appropriate and effective care.
